Instructions, Problems and Fixes:

6-3-2009 – Cheetah 3 Analyzer Program

Version 3.1.7 is posted and corrects data collection process error.  User should download the latest Cheetah Analyzer exe (Version 3.1.7) using the link above and replace Version 3.1.6.  Another option is to uninstall and reinstall the programs but that is not necessary or recommended.  This error affected the Active Fire Graph and Report.  It only occurred to an Analysis Set where more than one GACC was contained in the Analysis Set.  If users have done Active Fire Graphs or Reports from an Analysis Set that has more than one GACC, these Reports and Graphs should be rerun if there is intent to use the results in the future.

10-23-2008 – Cheetah 3 Analyzer Program

Version 3.1.6 is posted and corrects a divide-by-zero problem that occurred in some reports and graph creation with data sets that had very low fire occurrence.

1-7-2007 – Notification of Lat/Long Issue with USFS Files

The latitude and longitude values for Forest Service fires were not read correctly on the initial import.  This problem has been corrected in the 1-7-2007 version of the Cheetah3Master.mdb that is now posted.  All analysis sets currently created are fine as latitude and longitude are not used in any of the processes in Cheetah Analyzer.

11-6-2006 – Powerpoint presentation

The Powerpoint presentation made at the 2007 Fall Predictive Services Meeting in Santa Fe, NM., has been posted for reference.  The handout used was the Cheetah3_Summary.pdf document.  An updated version of this has also been posted correcting a spelling error.

11-6-2007 – Cheetah3Master.mdb

For CAL-FIRE fires, the latitude and longitude values were accidentally reversed.  This has been corrected in the current Cheetah3Master.mdb.  There is no affect on existing Analysis Sets as latitude and longitude are not part of the current Analysis Set data structure.  The updated file has been posted.

8-17-2006 – California State Fires

We have been alerted that an update to the CALFIRE fire occurrence data will be provided by the state around August 24.  Once received, the additional data will be integrated into the Cheetah3Master.mdb based on a schedule worked out with NICC.

8-17-2007 – Cheetah3LU.mdb

The State of Alaska has been added as an Agency.  In Alaska, all fires have been assigned to a Preparedness Area, regardless of the organizational unit where the fire started.  To do analysis in Alaska, select Alaska as the GACC and Alaska as the Agency.  In the building of a PSA, the “units” that will appear are the Preparedness Areas.  If Cheetah 3 has not been installed, the latest Cheetah3LU.mdb  is contained in the C2_Setup.exe file.  If Cheetah 3 has been installed, you will need to replace the current version of Cheetah3LU.mdb file.  To obtain a copy of Cheetah3LU.mdb file, download the file using the link above.  Copy the file to the folder where Cheetah 3 is installed and replace the existing Cheetah3LU.mdb file.  This is the folder that has all of the program executable (*.exe) files.

7-20-2007 - Cheetah 3 Analyzer, Version 3.1.2

In the Cheetah 3 Analyzer, the pulldown list for the selection of fire cause for the Fire Acres Report was disabled.  This problem has been fixed.  If Cheetah 3 has not been installed, the latest C2_Setup.exe file using the link above.  If Cheetah 3 has been installed, you will need to replace the current version of Cheetah 3 Analyzer program executable.  To obtain a copy of Cheetah 3 Analyzer, Version 3.1.2 (C3Analyzer.exe) file, download the file using the link above.  Copy the file to the folder where Cheetah 3 is installed and replace the existing C3Analyzer.exe file.  This is the folder that has all of the program executable (*.exe) files.

7-19-2007 – Posted updated Users’ Guide

Reorganized the format of the web site to aid use.   Early versions of the Users’ Guide had incorrect contact information for Tom Wordell.

7-18-2007 – Program Release

On this date, Versions 3.1.1 of Cheetah 3 Analyzer and Cheetah 3 Managers are available.  Also posted is the Users’ Guide in pdf format.  The user should download the Cheetah 3 Installation file (C3_Setup.exe) and the Cheetah3Master.mdb.   Following installation, the user should replace the blank Cheetah3Master.mdb file install with the Cheetah3Master.mdb that contains the operational fires database.
